Lawrence Wong Grail Sunscreen
Grail Skincare
As a person who has lived in Singapore for almost my entire life, I don't joke about my love-hate relationship with sunscreens. I love that this skincare product protects my skin from UV rays, but I hate that the ones I've tried either leave me feeling sticky or whitewash my face with a shade lighter.
Even after all these years of trying out sunscreens from different brands, I couldn't find the right one until I received a media invite to Grail, Lawrence Wong's skincare brand.
My first "connection" with Lawrence Wong happened when I was assigned to write a facts listicle about him. I learned that he has owned a skincare brand since 2021, inspired by his sensitive skin and lifestyle. Considering how he easily experiences an allergic reaction to the different products that makeup artists use on him, he decided to create his own skincare products featuring hypoallergenic ingredients.
Two years down the road, Grail has cemented its name as an up-and-rising brand, with its sunscreen, Daily SPF 50++++, being one of its best-selling products.
The sunscreen

Housed in a beige-brown bottle, Grail's Daily SPF 50++++ easily catches your attention thanks to its minimalist design. Its simplicity provides just the right amount of information for you to understand what its purpose - it reads "Daily SPF 50++++".
While its push pump isn't my ideal choice of dispenser, the sunscreen still gets the job done with other aspects, such as its weightless, silky texture that leaves you with a non-sticky finish. And the best part? It has a subtle bandung scent, reminiscent of the rose syrup drink commonly found in local coffee shops.
According to its official description, the sunscreen is also waterproof, which means you can enjoy adrenaline-rushing water activities and take a dip in the pool with no worries about getting skin damage and sunburn. Furthermore, its formula uses ingredients like Titanium Dioxide and Gossypium Herbaceum. The former ingredient reflects UVA and UVB rays without causing skin irritation, while the latter is rich in Vitamin E and anti-oxidants, protecting the skin from sun damage.
Verdict
After more than a month's use, I found myself recommending Grail's sunscreen to many of my friends, something I don't do very often. I'm impressed by how the sunscreen doesn't clog my pores, causing my skin to break out, and the fact that it also serves as a primer.
This makes me look forward to using the sunscreen every day, knowing that I'm using the right product to shield my skin from harmful UV rays.
